WHY SHOULD YOU SEE EPHESUS AND IZMIR?

Ephesus is one of the most chosen destination in Turkey. Also Ephesus has the most famous ruins of Turkey. Ephesus is the city that hosts the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Ephesus is one of the First Seven Churches of Christianity mentioned in the Bible.Also it is one the best preserved ancient Greek-Romans city of Turkey. The House of Virgin Mary was declared a place of pilgrimage by the Vatican in 1961.

CONCEPT OF THE TOUR

We start this tour with the Izmir Clock Tower, which was built in 1901 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the accession of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II to the throne. Then we will pass through Dario Moreno street, named after Dario Moreno, a Jewish Izmir lover and artist, and go to the place called “Elevator”. Our next stop is Kemeralti Bazaar. Kemeraltı was formed in 1650-1670 by filling the seashore and opening new residential areas and commercial establishments. It is also a neighborhood and bazaar with high commercial activities.

We will visit Izmir Agora, another historical site. Founded in the 4th century BC, the Agora was rebuilt with the support of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius after the earthquake in 178 AD. Our last stop is Kadifekale, which is also a historical place, and then we will pass the ancient city of Ephesus, we will pass through the lush and picturesque countryside before reaching our first stop, the House of Virgin Mary, and then we will reach the House of Virgin Mary. It is known that St. John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus 4 or 6 years after the death of Jesus.

Unveiling the Ancient Wonders of Ephesus

Secondly, after the House of the Virgin Mary we will move on to our next destination, the Ancient City of Ephesus, where the tour will be a walking tour and will take you to one of the most spectacular archaeological sites in the whole world. You will be able to see the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the Scholastic steam baths, the Temple of Hadrian and of course, let’s not forget the very impressive library of Ephesus.

The library is decorated with columns and statues. The Great Theater, where St. Paul preached, is the largest in antiquity with a capacity of 24,000 seats. Then we will pass through the Arcadian Way, where Mark Anthony and Cleopatra once rode in procession.

Finally, we will continue our tour and head to our next stop, the Temple of Artemis (Diana), this extraordinary temple was built in honor of the Greek goddess of hunting, wildlife and fertility, considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The Temple of Artemis was the largest marble temple in the ancient Greek world as it was four times larger than the Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
