Today, these monasteries stand as a testament to the enduring spirit of Orthodox Christianity and the remarkable human determination to conquer the inaccessible.

The six remaining monasteries of Meteora, out of an original twenty-four, continue to attract pilgrims, tourists, and scholars from around the world. The monasteries not only offer a glimpse into the religious and cultural heritage of Greece but also provide a breathtaking juxtaposition of man-made wonders against the natural beauty of the region. The Monastery of the Holy Trinity, or in Greek, the Monastery of Agia Triada, is one of the most photographed monuments of Meteora.

DAY 8: ATHENS – Departure

Meteora Dress Code:

  • The monasteries have strict dress codes so to enter the monasteries of Meteora, you have to adhere to the following rules.
  • Women will need to wear a long skirt, dress or sarong. It’s not enough to keep the knees covered, so no trousers or shorts. Men must wear long pants.
  • Sleeveless shirts are not allowed.
  • Please make sure to have appropriate clothing before visiting the monasteries.
